The Mexican American School Boards Association (MASBA) and the Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members (TCBSBM) hosted the Equity Symposium on February 27.
Dr. Viola M. García and Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney, who attended the symposium with a cohort of AISD leaders, discussed the importance of equity in public education as well as policy and best practices from across Texas.
The event brought together public education leaders. Each one had one common focus — improving outcomes for all students.
The Equity Symposium also featured several other recognized speakers on equity, including Kimberly McLeod of the Harris County Department of Education, Jacinto Ramos Jr. of the Fort Worth ISD Board of Trustees, and Verjeana McCotter-Jacobs of the National School Board Association Council of Urban Boards of Education.
This event was co-sponsored by MASBA and TCBSBM, with support from Texas Association of School Boards, the Texas Alliance of Black School Educators, the Texas Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents, and the Texas Association of School Administrators.
