Aldine ISD was selected as one of 14 school district finalists across Texas for the second cohort of a 5-year leadership program by The Holdsworth Center (click). The Center is a leadership institute for Texas public schools founded by H-E-B CEO and Chairman Charles Butt.
The nonprofit works with districts to train administrative leaders in each district, while also establishing systems for identifying and selecting future high-level district staffers.
AISD submitted an application to The Holdsworth Center to compete for a spot in the cohort. The Center has surveyed the districts to determine their willingness and ability to change as well as their level of commitment to the process.
The next step in the process for final consideration is a visit to AISD by The Holdsworth Center’s executive team. A decision will be made in April 2019 on the six chosen districts that will take part in the second round of training with The Holdsworth Center.
Aldine ISD would be among the largest Holdsworth Center participants if selected. The District has a student population of nearly 67,000 (2018 Snapshot) and is ranked ninth in the state.

“We believe leaders have a direct impact on student achievement,” said Board President Steve Mead. “Pursuing this (The Holdsworth Center Leadership program) is an opportunity for AISD to be able to enhance the way in which the District grows and develops its own leaders.
“This is a priority as we seek to build a legacy of equity and excellence.”
The Holdsworth Center is in its second year working with seven Texas school districts that piloted the initiative.
The Center dedicates about $4 million in services and benefits to each district, including on-the-ground staff members, training from management experts as well as airfare and accommodations for visits to organizations renowned for leadership practices.
