The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) recently named Dr. Michaelann Kelley to serve as Administration and Supervision Chair. Kelley is the AISD director of visual arts. The organization also named Sarah Kersh, art teacher at Carroll Academy, to serve as Elementary Division Chair-Elect.
The organization promotes visual arts education as an integral part of the curriculum.
Kersh and Kelley are passionate about teaching and support TAEA’s efforts to heighten awareness of the value of visual art education for students in all Texas schools.
“I love that I‘m part of a community of passionate, driven and innovative art educators,’ Kersh said. “Being able to collaborate with and get encouragement from each other makes me better at what I do.”
“I can network with many divergent–thinking people from all over Texas, yet we all converge around our passion for the visual arts. So basically, my TAEA colleagues push my thinking about art curriculum and instruction, which in turn benefits the art students of Aldine.”
