Aldine ISD Superintendent Dr. Wanda Bamberg was honored by Be An Angel for her service to children in need during the organization’s gala on April 28. The gala honored outstanding Houstonians who make a difference in the lives of children and was held at Hotel ZaZa. Dr. Bamberg received the Angel Award.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and his wife, Jan, served as dinner chairs and Gala Chair Carmina Zamorano brought in a record $575,000. Noted auctioneer, Heath Hale, raised more than $426,000 in the live auction and the Fund a Need. Myra Delacruz, a Be An Angel special needs child shared her story helping to create the auction excitement.
Be An Angel serves children with multiple disabilities or profound deafness by providing adaptive equipment and special services.
Other honorees recognized were Tim Miller, Founder and Director of Texas EquiSearch, Commissioner for Dept. of Public Safety, Henry “Hank” Whitman and VP of Be An Angel, Dan Pastorini.
Guests included Astronauts Fred Haise and Walt Cunningham, Dot Cunningham, Deborah Duncan, Rafael Chavez, Pam Morse, Judy Nichols, Robert & Gayle Rosales, David & Dianna Voll, John Leake, John Will, Sarah Hernandez, Delia Mizwa, Barbara Garney & Ray Solcher.
