Aldine ISD will offer summer recreation classes in gymnastics, swimming and weight training. There will be a 12-student minimum for each class.
Registration for gymnastics will be held June 5 from 9-11:30 a.m. at Smith Academy (5815 W. Little York), and Conley Elementary (3345 W. Greens Road). Those two schools will be the sites where the gymnastics classes will be held and are open to students in grades 1-12. Classes are $25. The classes will be held at the above-mentioned locations. Twelve lessons will be offered from June 5-22 and a second series of 12 lessons will be offered June 26-July 13.
Nimitz High will be utilized for “open swim” only from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Davis High will be utilized for “open swim” from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.. The price for admission for open swimming will be $1 for students and adults. Participation levels will determine if pools will remain open throughout the summer. The pools will open June 5. Due to construction at Aldine High School and MacArthur High School, there will be no swimming lessons this summer.
Registration for weight training classes will be held June 5 from 9-11:30 a.m. at Aldine High School, Davis High School, Eisenhower High Ant Dr.), Nimitz High School and MacArthur High School. Students must be 10 years of age or older to participate in the weight training classes. Weight training will be held at the above-mentioned high schools. The cost is $25 per course (a minimum of 12 students are needed for each class) and no refunds can be made once the class starts, unless classes are canceled due to enrollment.
Weight training will be offered from June 6 through July 20. Twenty-six lessons will be offered. Students will be grouped according to age and ability at registration. The instructor will determine the days and time for lessons at the time of registration.
Additionally, this summer the gyms will be open at Davis High, Eisenhower High, MacArthur High, Nimitz Senior and Carver High, June 5-July 27 from 1-5 p.m. for recreational play at no cost to students.

Also this summer, the Harris County Aquatics program will be offering free swim lessons to Aldine ISD students.

Lessons will be offered June 5-June 29 and July 3-July 27 (on July 28, Splash Down will be held at the Harris County Aquatic Center).
Swimming lessons will be held at Carver High School (2100 South Victory St.), and Davis High School (12525 Ella Blvd.). Classes will run from 9-11 a.m., 1-3 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. at Carver and from noon-2 p.m. and 3-5 p.m. at Davis.
Classes will also be held at Nimitz High School (2005 W.W. Thorne Drive) from 9-11 a.m.
