In the 84th Legislative Session, House Bill 1842 was passed and created the concept of Districts of Innovation. Simply put, this bill allows districts to engage their staff and community members to develop an innovative plan to improve services and opportunities in the District. The District of Innovation Plan will also allow the district some flexibility with particular laws. In October 2016, the Aldine ISD Board of Trustees passed a resolution allowing the district to pursue this opportunity. The District of Innovation Committee worked on strategies and a plan that is now posted on the website for feedback. Details about the timeline, the innovations, and the proposed flexibilities are included in the plan. The plan will be posted for 30 days. Then it will be reviewed by the Vertical Educational Advisory Committee for a vote and then the School Board.
Please review the plan and share your feedback by emailing your comments to [email protected]
Thank you for your time and attention.
