Nine Aldine ISD track and field athletes will be heading to Austin to compete in the Class 6A State Track Meet, May 13-14 at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas.
Aldine will be sending two relay teams and two individuals to the state meet. They earned a trip to state by finishing first or second in their respective events at the Region III Meet, held in Webster April 29-30.
In the Girls’ Division, Davis High qualified in the 400-meter relay with a second-place finish. The team consists of Kenaysia Dixon, Evette Griffin, Mya Lloyd and Mikayla McLaughlin. Dixon will also compete at State in the 200-meter dash after finishing second in the event. Overall, Davis finished 4th at the regional meet. The team is under the direction of head coach Traneisha Allen.
In the Boys’ Division, Davis qualified in the 800-meter relay with a second-place finish. The team consists of Montray Norris, Reynaud Jackson, Kameron Pryor, and Ernesto Hall. Overall, Davis finished 6th at the regional meet. The Falcons are coached by Trey Rodriguez.
Eisenhower’s George Nyakwol qualified for state in the triple jump with a first-place finish. Nyakwol was one of the meets top scorers with 10.5 points. Eisenhower is coached by Jonathan Joseph.
