The eight-year-old made it to the semi-final week (June 1) on Team Prince Royce with his presentation of the song “Como México no hay dos” by Mexican singer Vincente Fernández.
While he didn’t win, Juan Manuel impressed the judges with his presentation of Mexican classics like “Que te vaya bonito” and “El rey” also by Vicente Fernández. Judge Roberto Tapatia lauded Juan Manuel on his presentation of “El rey.”
“Vicente Fernández must be proud of your presentation.”
Prince Royce also praised the young Mariachi singer.
“You deserve to be here,” said Royce. “You have grown so much. No matter what happens, I hope you continue to sing.”
In the final phase of “La Voz Kids,” six contestants headed to the second season finale. The winner was announced on June 8.
“La Voz Kids” is the Spanish version of the show “The Voice” on NBC but contestants are kids. The Spanish-language talent show airs on Telemundo.
Natalia Jiménez Sarmiento, Prince Royce and Roberto Tapia served as the judges during Season 2 of the show. Jiménez is a Spanish singer. She was the lead singer of the Spanish pop band La 5a Estación. Royce is an American singer-songwriter and record producer from The Bronx. And Tapatia is an American singer who is well known within the Regional Mexican genre.
