Caraway Intermediate School library staff members Vicki Vides and Yvonne Reyna wrapped more than 800 books to be given as holiday gifts. The pair had many helpful “elves.” Student volunteers from teacher Rachel Francis’ classes helped Vides and Reyna get ready for the annual holiday book giveaway. Each student who attends the campus will receive a book.
The library works with First Book to provide high quality books at a low cost. The nonprofit organization connects book publishers and community organizations like school libraries to provide access to new books for children. First Book works with schools where at least 70% of the students come from low-income families.
Fifth and sixth graders will receive their books during the weeks prior to midwinter break.
This is the fifth annual holiday book giveaway at the campus.
