Several third and fourth grade students from Odom Elementary School participated in the school district’s Punt, Pass, and Kick Competition held Oct. 8 at Smith Stadium. The skills competition is designed for youths aged six to 15. In the competition, every contestant is allowed one punt, pass and kick. Scoring is based on both distance and accuracy to determine the winners in each age group.
Students practiced their skills under the direction of Charlie Richard, physical education teacher at Odom Elementary School. Below is a list of where Odom Elementary School students placed:
1st Place in Punting Event — Jay Perales, 3rd Grade
3rd Place in Punting Event — Anthony Ortega, 4th Grade
3rd Place in Passing Event — Jessica Flores, 4th Grade
4th Place in All-Around Event — Soriah Alfares, 3rd Grade
5th Place in Kicking Event — Omar Loera, 4th Grade
Fourth graders Erick Arellano and Byron Davila also competed in the games but did not place. Every student who participated received a certificate while those that placed also received a trophy.
Everyone at Odom Elementary School is very proud of the accomplishments of the students that competed.
