Aldine ISD requires that all ninth grade and high school students (male and female) must wear a collar-style shirt (polo-style shirt with collar, oxford shirt with collar or dress shirt). Shirts must be buttoned. Shirts can be any color, solid colored, plaid or striped. Jackets are not considered shirts.
Female students will be allowed to wear skirts, split skirts, and dresses, however, the length must approach the knee and allow one to walk, stoop, kneel and sit with modesty. Skirts must be worn with collared shirts.
Principal discretion will be used in addressing any dress code issues, which may adversely affect the educational atmosphere of the school.
The district’s general dress code is established to teach hygiene, instill discipline, prevent disruption, avoid safety hazards, promote orderliness, and assure the security of the school.
A complete dress code policy can be found in the Parent/Student Handbook, which will be distributed to students at all grade levels during the first week of school. It can also be found on the school district’s website.

I don’t appreciate the change in the attire. In this failing economy (and don’t tell me it is not STILL failing because I am living it), One income parents with several or even just 2 students can NOT afford to be buying their children 2 sets of clothing. When you decide to make the students wear uniforms, that means we have to buy them the required clothing for school, and in order to preserve THOSE clothes, we THEN have to buy them clothing to wear AFTER school or to other outings and such. It would maybe have been a little better had you specified that JEANS cold be worn with the collared shirts, because at least then the shirts can also be worn to church, and the jeans, well jeans are worn ALL the time……but when they have to have specific SLACKS, well that adds to the bill, and slacks are NOT cheap!!
There shold be an ammendment made to this policy. And the district cannot afford to buy slacks for everyone!
I think high school students are allowed to wear jeans. Basically the only change made is now the ninth graders can wear jeans and any color shirt instead of basic uniform colors
Dickie Double-Knee Twill pants look good for school or church and wear great at a very reasonable price through walmart.com. Blue, black, or khaki; they have them in shorts, too.
This is not fair. My daughter burly got out of aldine ninth grade and now they decide to change the rules. Uniform is better it saves us alot of money because they have too. Now they can just wear whatever color and jeans they want. And what about the cellphones whats the whole point of letting them take cellphones to school and not letting them use them. You know damm right they are going to be using them?
I think uniforms are a waste of money. As a single parent, I can barely afford to buy my children 1 set of clothes, much less 2. The point that’s trying to be made is to avoid students that have less money being made fun of. Well, I have news for you. They now have “cheap uniforms” and “expensive uniforms”. And, if you say this is preparing them to get a job, then why don’t colleges require a dress code? So, what is the real reason for uniforms?
We appreciate your concern Ginger. If you have any questions regarding policy, please feel free to contact the area superintendent for your child’s campus.
The district’s general dress code is established to teach hygiene, instill discipline, prevent disruption, avoid safety hazards, promote orderliness, and assure the security of the school. Policy is designed to promote a serious academic atmosphere as well as promote good behavior. The AISD Board of Trustees approved the dress code after reviewing the recommendations provided by the advisory groups comprised of various folks including parents, students and AISD staff.
If you would like to become involved in future policy decisions, we encourage you to sign up to attend the Superintendent’s Parent Advisory meetings. Keep checking the school district’s website for postings of meeting dates for the 2012-2013 school year.
I think the uniform policy is great!!! Kids today think it’s all about a fashion show when they should be focus on learning something in life. So I am happy about this change for 9th grade and high school.
I’m Sorry but the uniforms are great!!! I am not sure what you pockets look like, but regular clothes are very expensive!!! especially when you get to the middle school high school age kids. coming from a mom of 2, I’d much rather go to Fiesta, Citi Trends, and Old Navy and buy the 5 dollar polo shirts and 10 dollar khakis than go to the mall and buy the 20 dollar jeans, shirts and lets not forget how much shoes are!!! Kudos to Aldine for the uniforms!!!
